My first appearance as Miss Lancashire was very special one to me. I had the pleasure of being asked to attend a Halloween Fun Day, organised by a lovely friend of mine Christina Cunningham. Christina is now the new Miss North West and is an extremely deserving winner – I will be writing more about Christina and her journey in the Miss North West final in a special blog, at a later date.
Christina’s wonderful ‘Fangstastic’ Halloween Family Fun Day took place in Farnworth, at a very famous conservative club where the hilarious Phoenix Nights series was filmed. I was already attending this event as a close friend, as I wanted to support Christina as much as I possibly could – so it was an honour to attend as the newly crowned Miss Lancashire. The whole event was held in order to raise funds for Miss North West and our chosen charity, Variety, The Children’s Charity. Whilst there we had lots of fun playing games and spending our pennies on the raffles, in which there were plenty of fabulous prizes to be won. Carole Swarbrick, the Lady Mayoress of Bolton, opened the event, which was a lovely way to start such a successful occasion. It’s always nice to catch up with the Mayoress of Bolton; she was thrilled to hear that I had won the title of Miss Lancashire and that I had also won the title of Miss Charity Lancashire.
My duty whilst at the event was to judge the children’s fancy dress competition, which as you can imagine, was not an easy job to do! How can you possibly judge which child looks the best in their Halloween outfit? They all looked so cute and had put in so much effort; it really was a hard job to do, but of course I had lots of fun in the process.
It’s always hard to plan and hold your own event. I can’t congratulate Christina enough for all her hard work and her efforts when it comes to the Miss England North West Heats. She never fails to disappoint and always puts 100% into everything she does, it was a pleasure to be there Christina, thank you for having me.
Shortly after, I attended my second event as Miss Lancashire. This particular event was such a helpful one as it was a networking evening. Networking is a huge part of being a Miss, it is very important to get yourself out there and meet lots of new people who are part of companies, associations, charities and even as individuals. UK Power Hour is a networking platform which is based in Bolton and run by two very talented ladies, Lisa Forshaw and Julie O’Hara Gradwell.
The event included several local companies meeting at the Virgin Active Gym in Bolton where we all got to introduce ourselves and get an insight into what each person and their company was about. I was there modelling some beautiful clothing from Bolton’s best boutique, DB3. I have been linked with and have worked with DB3 for some years now and it is always such a pleasure to work with them. I made lots of new contacts and friends from this event, I even had the chance to catch up with some familiar faces –two of which are friends of my dad’s – what a small world!
All in all my first two Miss Lancashire appearances made me extremely excited for what’s to come over the next year. Please make sure to follow my official Miss Lancashire page where I will be keeping you all updated with everything I will be getting up to, it’s going to be an exciting year, I can promise you that!
