Here’s to our new Miss North West 2015, Christina Cunningham!
Miss North West has always been a special heat to me, I always see it as ‘the next step’, the winner is always deserving and holds great responsibility. To be an ambassador for the North West is a pleasure to anyone, and I know full well that Christina is going to set the bar extremely high. All the girls who took part in the Miss North West did wonderfully well; it’s such a huge achievement to get up on that stage in front of so many people!
I was so excited to watch this particular heat, having lots of friends competing in the final and some very familiar faces coming back for more – it’s just the perfect occasion! Set in the beautiful Sands Venue in Blackpool, the moral was high and all the team was together ready for a joyous evening! I and the team actually stayed for most of the day watching rehearsals and helping the contestants with routines or hair and make-up, or sometimes giving general advice. I could honestly just sit and watch rehearsals all day long.
I love seeing the contestants make new friends and come out of their shells as the day goes along – it is such a great experience! I always am so thrilled to be able to attend our heats, being there as Miss Lancashire was a true pleasure. I even had the chance of presenting the award of Miss Charity North West which, coincidently, was awarded to Christina, a true charity queen! Overall she raised of £1900 for Variety, the Children’s Charity – How awesome is that?!
I wanted to dedicate a blog to Christina as I truly haven’t met anyone with such determination and passion. I first met Christina in the Miss Bolton and Bury heat earlier this year, again she won the Miss Charity Bolton and Bury title. Out of all the heats I have attended, and all the titles given to girls over the years, Christina is the first one to use her charity title to its full potential – something which I have admired so much. It was clear that she had taken the title with pride, as of course she should.
I honestly feel like I have known Christina for several years, it is quite shocking to think we only met earlier this year! It just goes to show what you can gain from these events. True friendships really do blossom, hard work always pays off and new doors will open. I am honoured to say that I will be attending the Miss England 2016 Finals with Christina, I know she will make this journey that extra bit special.
I am ever so grateful for having the opportunity to represent Lancashire in the Miss England Finals and to be an ambassador for the county – sometimes it is quite hard to believe just how lucky I am to be a part of something so wonderful.
Your Miss Lancashire,
Lucy Physick xxx
